DBAV Sustainability Champions 2022

The Dutch Business Association Vietnam (DBAV) is pleased to announce DBAV's Business Sustainability Champions 2022.

An independent panel of judges had to make a choice on winners for each of the four categories of the Business Sustainability Champions based on the nomination form submitted by our members. In each category two companies had to be selected, who will then continue to compete to the finals at EuroCham's Sustainability Awards on Awards on 29 November 2022.

Many nominations were received in the first category, The Green Business of The Year. The other categories received only one nomination form per category, which means that those companies are automatically qualified for the Eurocham Awards 2022.

The Independent Judging Panel for the DBAV Business Resilience Awards 2022:

The first category: Green Business of the Year

This award, considered the grand prize, will celebrate an unwavering commitment to Vietnam's green development mission, including implementing a comprehensive and integrated zero-emissions plan and circular economy initiatives.

The Judge Panel has chosen three candidates moving forward to the EuroCham Awards and these are: De Heus Vietnam, Heineken Vietnam and FrieslandCampina Vietnam.

All three companies have a strong track record when it comes to sustainability and we highlight some of the aspects that we appreciated:

• De Heus Vietnam’s nomination was selected for their broad sustainability approach: Reaching from antibiotic reduction to certified deforestation free raw materials to waste reduction and reuse of packaging materials. At the same time the company also works to improve energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy at its facilities.
• Heineken Vietnam’s nomination was chosen with their Brew A Better Vietnam sustainability strategy, Heineken is  aiming for a zero impact across their value chain – not only on emissions, but also on water use and circularity.
• FrieslandCampina Vietnam nomination was made for this year's achievements within the long term goals in CO2 emission, recyclable/reusable packaging, sustainable sourcing and working towards net carbon neutral, positive biodiversity on member farms.

The second category: Best Sustainable Initiative by an SME

This award highlights excellence among SMEs and evaluates the innovativeness of a specific initiative launched by an SME. In this category Long An Green Tech JSC was selected because of their continuous process of in-house and outsourced R&D and AI in both their own products and operations as well as to solve the problem in the logistics chain 

The third category: Best HR Development Strategy

As Vietnam continues to develop its human resource capacity, this award will honour companies that have prioritised talent planning and the well-being of their employees in a strategic and thoughtful fashion. 

De Heus Vietnam was selected as the winner in this category. Their nomination proposal described their collaboration with major universities with a special program building innovative curriculum, conducting programs in English, providing students with internships, with the ambition to build a capable workforce for the sector.

The fourth category: The Most Innovative Project

This award honours a project that demonstrates innovation, ESG credentials, and a technology-driven approach.

Except Integrated Sustainability B.V., with their project Orchid City: Self-sufficient and sustainable city blueprint has been chosen as the winner in this category.
