Work space provider expands

AS demand for flexible working space continues to grow, working space provider Regus Management Malaysia Sdn Bhd is looking to expand its serviced office and co-working space centres into several other states by next year.  Some of the new locations it is eyeing include Ipoh and Melaka, said Vijayakumar Tangarasan country head for Regus Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.  Regus recently launched its new business centre at The Vertical Corporate Towers, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur.

“With the steady penetration of international companies and start-ups setting up their base in Malaysia, finding a work space in the current real estate market remains a challenge,” said Vijayakumar.

“Hence the demand for flexible, convenient and connected work space solutions will continue to grow. With this new centre located in Bangsar South, we are offering a prestigious address for businesses – whether start-ups, small or medium-sized enterprises or multinational corporations – to expand according to their needs,” he added.

According to the latest global report from IWG, 92% of Malaysian professionals said that flexible work space enables employees in their company to be more productive while on the move and 88% said remote working locations help reduce commuting time for employees.  Vijayakumar noted that demand for work space has changed a lot globally as people increasingly want more flexibility.

“The way people work globally is changing with the rise of readily available technology and Malaysia is no exception. Businesses are recognising that offering flexible working solutions to their employees yields significant benefits. Regus pioneered flexible workplaces thirty years ago and now, we are leading the workplace revolution, helping businesses reap the benefits of flexibility for themselves and their employees,” he said.

He added that businesses were always on the lookout to minimise one of the largest costs of doing business – often related to leasing, equipping and staffing office space.  Flexible work spaces can help companies quickly upscale or downscale their entry into new markets, he said.  The new Regus centre spans across 16,000sq ft and offers 347 modern work stations with work space options that include private offices, co-sharing work spaces, a variety of meeting rooms, and full connectivity.  The new centre already has a 60% occupancy rate with take-ups from numerous large and small businesses.  Regus is looking at opening more centres by year-end in areas such as Puchong, Petaling Jaya and Subang.  Regus began operations in Malaysia in 1999 and currently has 33 centres in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Kota Kinabalu, Labuan and Penang.
